Ms. Marcelene Williams was born April 17, 1959 in West Point, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Pauline (Pearson) Williams and J.W. Williams, Sr. She was a long time resident of Flint, Michigan before moving back to Mississippi and then finally to Texas. At an early age, Marcelene was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. For many years, she was a member of Church of Jesus our Lord under the leadership of Bishop Willie Clark. She attended Flint Community Schools and was a 1977 graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. Marcelene worked primarily as a child care provider. She also worked at a local Dry Cleaners and various other places providing customer service. Marcelene was a fun, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was full of life and always made others smile. "Aunt Marcy" never met a stranger. Being so kind and humble, she loved making friends and having long talks. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music especially the blues and playing dominoes. Marcelene was always willing and ready to go at the drop of a dime, she loved to collect elephants and watch sports. Some of her other favorite things to do were going to play Bingo, eating and having family gatherings. She always kept her faith, loved praying and most of all she loved spending time with her daughter, and grandchildren who she loved dearly.


Ms. Marcelene Williams leaves to cherish her memory: loving and caring daughter, Markeeta Cherryon Williams; grandchildren, Ronald Leslie Coleman, Jr. and Raegan Cherryon Barefield; sisters, Carolyn K. Ar-Rahmaan, Dorothy "Dot" Smith, Doris Jean Lloyd, and Lois D. Williams; brothers, J.W. Williams, Jr. and Hansel "Dwayne" (Nett) Williams; numerous nieces and nephews including special nieces, Kameshia, Tan, Halimah, Cushee, Sheila, Larhonda, Shaunda, JeQuanda, SHemeka; Dewanna, Trece; special nephews, Lamonte Jr. "Punkin", Antonio “Tony”, Tyrone and Jemar; several great-nieces and nephews including special great-nephew, Jaquante; aunts, Helen M. McBride and Cletis E. Williams; many cousins including Steve and Selena along with the Williams, Kincaid, White, Cannon, Weaver and Walker families; special friends, Tracy Sadler, Deborah Holbrook, Angie Swanson, Shanta Kidd, Jonathan Edmond, Brenda Leach, Charlie Boy, Brian Jones, Virginia Graves, James McCoy, Monique Bonner, Fred from MS, Nikayle Williams, Shanae Nelson, Shemeka Hill, Diana Gallow, Sheree Herndon, John Mattox, Charlie Hussel, Johanna Waggoner, Lacreasha Mosley and Shemeka Vining, god-nieces, Tina and Tricia; the Green Street family and a host of other relatives and friends.


Marcelene was preceded in death by her: father, J.W. Williams, Sr.; mother, Pauline (Pearson) Williams; step-father, Delois Wright; sister, Valeria Watson; nephew, Idrees Ar-Rahmaan, niece, Tanisa Lloyd; great-nieces, Me'Onca Mosley and Ladetris Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Lamonte Watson, Sr. and Rudolph Lloyd; aunts, Mary Ann Kincaid, Ida Bell Walker, Charlene Cannon, Appielonia White,Toley Mae Buckley, Mary Frances DeCarlos and Glennis Drake; uncles, Fletcher, Fondro, James, W.D. Jesse, Lonzo, George Allen, Arthur and Robert Pearson, Charlie D. and Joe Williams; grandparents, Davis and Lavada Williams, George W. and Gursie (Gable) Pearson.

There will be a viewing held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. with a service to follow on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. The location will be Eternal Rest Funeral Home located at 4610 South Wayside Drive in Houston, Texas 77087.
