Anderson, David A. – of Flint, MI, age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, August 19, 2021. A Memorial will be held at 12 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastors Shawn Kook and Steve Anderson officiating. Private interment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 AM – 12 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist School in Davison.
David was born in Flint, MI on March 25, 1948, son of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Caldwell) Anderson. He attended schools in the Flint, Beecher, Clio and Westward Heights districts. He received a GED after his formal schooling. He was later enrolled in many classes over several years at the Flint Bible Institute. Following several other short-term employments, he was hired by the Flint Main Post Office as a Mail Handler, working primarily on the docks, loading and unloading mail trucks. He was so proficient, that the Post Office used his skills to train many new hires. He retired from that federal position after thirty-five years of faithful service. Perhaps his greatest “hobby” (though he loved chess) was following the Detroit Tigers from the 1950’s onward, attending a number of games in the old Briggs Stadium, and later Tiger Stadium and finally Comerica Park. Undoubtedly, the finest moments of his recreational life were to be a Fantasy Camper in Lakeland, Florida TWICE—wearing an official Tiger uniform and playing for a week with many of the Tiger “greats” of old, including Al Kaline, Gates Brown and Willie Horton! He considered Ernie Harwell to be a personal friend! He was affectionately known by all who knew him as “Tiger Dave”. He was a faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church in Davison for almost twenty-five years, and he loved being able to attend the services and activities.
David is survived by two brothers, Jeremiah Anderson and Stephen (Martha) Anderson; many nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Mary Anderson.
