NIELSEN, BEVERLY MAE – Of Flint, age 88, died Friday, March 20, 2026, from renal failure and dementia.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Visitation will be held at 11am until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
Beverly was born in Flint, Michigan on January 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Barnard DeWitt and Helen Leone (Redford) Richardson.
She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in June 1956. In August of 1956 Beverly met Robert Wayne Nielsen at a dance hall. They were married on February 2, 1957. Bob and Bev had 7 children, JoAnn Hoover (Tim) of Wichita, Kansas, Diane Wolosonowich-Prieur (Tim, Ron) of Flint, Djarlene Baker (Kelvin) of Humble, Texas, Robert Nielsen Jr of Davison, Michigan, Cynthis Griffus (James) of Brattleboro, Vermont, Barbara Nielsen (deceased) of Flint, Michigan and James Nielsen of Flint, Michigan.
Beverly had 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her and Bob’s family. Beverly enjoyed family gatherings, card nights, camping, fishing and swimming. Over the years Beverly tried many different craft trends and found she loved to sew, quilt, crochet and knit. She loved making new clothes, quilts or handmade gifts for her family and friends. She even sold some at several craft shows.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Leone Richardson Costner and Barnard DeWitt Richardson, her husband of 63 years Robert W. Nielsen, her baby girl Barbara Lynn Nielsen and her son-in-law Timothy L. Wolosonowich.
