VILLARREAL, Helen – of Flint, formerly of Texas, age 68, passed away on January 26, 2023. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 W. Coldwater Rd., Flint, MI 48505; Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley celebrant. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 and the family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadulupe.
Helen was born in Flint, MI on November 27, 1954, daughter of the late Urbano “Joe” and Maria (Rodriguez) Villarreal. She married Joe Tijerina on May 1, 1970 in Flint, MI. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1998. She owned and operated El Charrito’s in Flint and Davison for many years. Helen was very involved in community activities and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. She served on many church functions. Helen loved her puppies Chico, Poncho and Teddy.
Helen is survived by son, Javan (Tiffany) Tijerina; grandchildren, Jay (Marthalena) Tijerina, Savannah (Steven) Scofield and Ariella Tijerina; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Jose, Jaxon, Nayeli, Rowen and Finnick; siblings, Jose (Mary) Villarreal and Antonio (Gloria) Villarreal; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members, close friends, Tina, Sylvia and Mary and many more friends. She went home to be with her sons; Joe “Chano” and Jonas “Jay”.
