MARTIN, Ella J. “Joyce” – of Clio, age 91, died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1PM until 8PM, and Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Due to Covid-19 and government restrictions, only 25 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and masks are required.
Joyce was born April 5, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to Alfred and Eva “Blanche” (Magwood) Hyzer. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1947. Joyce married Walter Scott Martin, Jr. on February 28, 1948 in Georgia. He preceded her in death May 29, 1979. She enjoyed bowling on her ladies bowling league at the Clio Bowling Arcade, and golfing on her golf league at Vienna Greens. Joyce also enjoyed painting, quilting, sewing, and gardening. Above all, Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren and get togethers with family.
Surviving are: Daughter, Michele (Neil) McGhee; Son, Michael (Diane) Martin; Daughter in law, Karen Martin; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; Sister, Barbara (Alfred) Webster. Joyce was also preceded in death by: Daughter, Marlene Seelye in 2012; Son, Mark Martin in 2019. Please sign our guest book or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
