BERRIDGE, Thelma – of Davison, MI, age 86, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at The Pines of Burton. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Inurnment will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of the service on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Thelma was born in Harrison, MI on May 17, 1935, daughter of the late Cecil and Doris (Skeels) Matthews. Thelma graduated from Harrison High School and later went to work for General Motors where she retired. Thelma married Lee Berridge on August 11, 1984, he preceded her in death on February 4, 2008. She was a member of a retiree travel club and spent much of her time travelling with her husband. After Lee passed, she would travel with her family, visiting her grandson in California. She enjoyed spending weekends at her sister’s house on the lake with her family, having cookouts, boating, swimming and just being with those she loved. Her family was very appreciative of the time that Thelma’s dear sister-in-law, Margaret, spent playing cards with her at The Pines of Burton.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Trudy (Mike) Shields; stepdaughter, Mona (Gene) Williams; grandchildren, Zachary (Amber) Ousnamer, Heather (Steve) Zintzmaster, Nathan (Katie) Wallace and Katie Williams; great-grandchildren, Cade Zintzmaster, Clay Zintzmaster, and Harper Wallace; sister, Ethel Sharp; sister-in-law, Margaret Matthews; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Leland (Jean) Matthews, Melvin Matthews, Shirley (Jim) Toombs and Fred (Lois) Matthews; and brother-in-law, Robert Sharp.
