GAGNON, Norman R., Sr. – of Davison, MI, age 88, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at his residence after a 35-year battle with MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2020 and 11 AM-12 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Memorial Service, conducted under the auspices of the Davison Knights of Columbus Bishop Albers Council 4090 and the Ardon F. Dubie Fourth Degree Assembly 0523, will be held 6 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2020 followed by a Rosary at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Choir, in Norman’s memory.
Norman was born in Flint, MI on November 17, 1931, son of the late Doria and Gladys (Barker) Gagnon. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Norman married Betty J. Ward on August 11, 1956 in Flint, MI. He retired from General Motors after more than 37 years of service. Norman was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was a Senior Server and a choir member. He taught at Mott Community College and at Mott Adult High School. Norman was also a member of the Davison Knights of Columbus Bishop Albers Council 4090 and the Ardon F. Dubie Fourth Degree Assembly 0523. He enjoyed music, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norman is survived by his wife, Betty Gagnon; 6 children, Norman (Teresa) Gagnon Jr., Mary (Kevin) Schroeck-Hollingshead, Michael (Ruth) Gagnon, Christopher (Anita) Gagnon, Terrance (Barbara) Gagnon and Therese (Jeff) Hill; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Maureen Smith and Mary Ann (John) Palacios. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doria and Gladys Gagnon; 3 brothers, Mark Gagnon, Maurice Gagnon and Richard Gagnon; sister, Joan Sutton.
