Margaret was born in Flint on January 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Marzonie) Pascuzzo. She grew up in Flint and worked at Citizen’s Bank and the Fair Store. Margaret graduated from All Saints High School in 1949 and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and choir. She married S. Bruce Mattarella (Sonny) on February 4, 1956 and after 59 years together, he preceded her in death on November 22, 2015. Margaret is best remembered in the kitchen for her Italian cooking (especially her fresh bread, meatballs, sauce, and breaded steak to name a few) but was world famous for her beloved oatmeal-raisin-chocolate chip cookies. Margaret led a busy life raising three children and taking care of her home on Lake Nepessing in Lapeer. She especially enjoyed working in her beautiful flower garden. In the Spring, Margaret worked alongside her husband Bruce at their family business, Rainbow Garden Center in Flint. In her quiet time, Margaret could be found reading her Bible or one of the many biographies she enjoyed reading. She will be remembered for her thoughtful cards (all words underlined of course), singing in harmony with Bruce on the piano, her ‘whoop-whoop” polka dancing, and her unstoppable laughter. She was a Michigan football fan, hospital volunteer and caregiver to her husband in his later years. At the age of 82, Margaret lost her ability to talk, walk and even feed herself but after months of therapy she made a heroic comeback. Though she remained wheelchair bound, she was fiercely independent and cared for all of her own needs. She was truly an overcomer and an inspiration to many. Margaret loved being surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most importantly Margaret was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Surviving are children, Karen and husband Louie Lepri of Farmington Hills, MI and their children, Jacquelyn (Troy), great grandchildren, Camden, Christian and MiMi, Kelly (Ryan) and great grandchildren, Jacoby, Georgia and Andre, Alexis; Bruce and wife Karen Mattarella of Canton, MI and their children Jessica (Jim), Mary (Jacob), Kristine (Michael), great grandson on the way, Anne Marie; and Rick and wife Terri Mattarella of Traverse City, MI and their children Taylor (Scotty), Brandon, Kailey and Jordan; sister, Marigrace Flynn (Jim), several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Billy. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Fred and Joey and loving sister Marcy.

Special thanks to Homestead staff (especially Paulette and Tiffani), The Medical Team staff, NP Maria, Ascension Genesys 4S staff (especially Jordan, Sage, Mike and Allison) and caseworker Susan, Dr. Matthew Weiss, Dr. Ali Mohammed, and Dr. Bleibel for all their encouragement and support.
