Smith, James C. – of Clio, age 78, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his residence surrounded by love and family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Friday, August 25, 2023, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Department of Veterans Services.
James was born December 19, 1944, in Flint, Michigan, to the late John and Evelyn (Murray) Smith. He attended Beecher High School, graduating with the class of 1963. James married his best friend Sherry Shoemaker on June 25, 1965, making so many wonderful memories together. James worked for General Motors Local 599 Factory 5 for 30 years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and golfing. James enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking in beautiful views, and all nature had to offer. He was known for his amazing sense of humor and the love he had for his family. More than anything he was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend who will be missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory are: Wife of 58 years, Sherry Smith; Children: Brian Smith and Michelle (Robert) Swickard; Grandsons: Anthony and Nicholas Swickard; Brother, David (Barbara) Smith; He was blessed with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn (Murray) Smith; granddaughter, Hayley Swickard; brother, Jack Smith; sister, Lorraine Maier.
