ST. MARTIN, Sara Anna (George) – of Burton, MI, age 82, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in Assyrian Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Domestic Shelters in Flint, in Sara’s memory.
Sara was born in Flint, MI on October 2, 1939, daughter of the late Daniel and Alice (Isaac) George. She was raised in Flint’s Eastside community and was a proud graduate of Flint St. Mary’s Catholic High School Class of 1957. Sara married Thomas St. Martin on June 19, 1970 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Flint, MI. She furthered her education, earning a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. Sara was a natural caregiver, helping others through her work with many organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lapeer, the REACH program and domestic violence shelters in Flint. She was also a gifted and talented artist, especially in photography and jewelry making. Sara’s handmade silver jewelry was showcased at her Art at the Market Gallery booth in Flint for 12 years. She volunteered her time and talents as a photographer for the Special Olympics. Sara was a marathon runner, competing for many years in The Crim Race and the Detroit Free Press Marathon twice.
She was an avid reader and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella Regina Coeli Circle Davison #1095.
Sara is survived by her husband, Thomas St. Martin; daughter, Vicki (Dave) Letcavage; brother-in-law, Richard (Lucinda) St. Martin; sister-in-law, Rita (George Dufresne) Kasper; niece, Lorri (John) Marx; great-niece, Sabrina Marx; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Alice George and her brother, James (Annette) George.
