Mr. William “Jimmy” Norfleet was born September 6, 1959, in Uniontown, Alabama, the son of Ms. Mary Norfleet and Mr. William Askew. William graduated from Robert C. Hatch High School in 1978 where he was an avid basketball player. William worked for many years as a butcher at the local Skyway Supermarket. He enjoyed cooking (on the grill) and spending quality time with his family & friends. His Mother, children, and grandchildren were the love of his life. William was baptized at an early age under the ministry of Dr. Ed Bradley at the historic First Missionary Baptist Church located in Uniontown, Alabama.
Mr. William Norfleet leaves to cherish his memory: Mother, Mary Norfleet of Uniontown, Ala., two sons, Sharode (Toya) Hayward of Ashburn, Va., JeQuell Norfleet of Flint, MI; daughter, Tekira Norfleet of Flint, MI; stepson, Kevin Spence; stepdaughters, Jamesha Spence and Isis Spence both of Flint, MI. Mother of his children, Ms. Diane Spence of Flint, MI. Four sisters, Dorothy (Ken) Simmons of Flint, MI., Lillie (Michael) Fields, Renana Norfleet, and Annie Pearl Askew all of Alabama. Two brothers, Curler (Bobbie) Norfleet of Uniontown, Ala., and Richard Norfleet of Flint, MI. Six grandchildren, Josiah, Swaikeile, Terek, Khalia, Keaton, and Izaiaher. As well as a host of step grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and special friends Mr. Kelvin (Maria) Hamlett.
Mr. William Norfleet was preceded in death by, father, William Askew and sister, Julia Jones.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Joram O. Mogaka M.D. and the staff of Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe, MI., Pastor Douglas Banks and the church family of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church of Flint, MI.
