Kaye Frances Freeman, age 73, of Owosso, MI, passed away peacefully in the hands of her loving family on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, with Pastor Fred Lab officiating. Burial will take place at Lakefield Township Cemetery, Merrill, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Kaye was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 14, 1950, the daughter of Howard and Anna Caroline (Kopta) Mavis. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, MI with the class of 1968 and earned a Floral Degree from LCC. Kaye enjoyed gardening and created floral arrangements for all occasions for her family and friends. Kaye devoted her entire life to her boys and their families. She loved to give gifts to those she loved. She was a fabulous cook and her food was central to every family gathering. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome.

Kaye lived life to the fullest extent. Everyone who truly knew her; knew she had no filter. However, her passion in life was to serve others. As a caregiver, she impacted many families selflessly putting others before herself.

Kaye's family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice RN Danielle, and Kathy, Kayla, Kristy, Desiree, Abby, and Beth for their compassionate
care during her last days. She is survived by her beloved dog Bella, three sons: Brian (Kari) Freeman, Kevin (Ginny) Freeman, and Jason (Jennifer) Freeman; two step-sons: Michael (Susan) Freeman, and Steven (Kathy McGonagle) Freeman; seven grandchildren: Chelsea (Spencer) Bouchard, Austeen (Dylan) Heeney, Dylan (Brianna) Freeman, Cameron (Aspen) Freeman, Collin Freeman, Corrie (Connor Kirby) Freeman, and Brian Freeman II; four great- grandchildren: Callie, Finn, Brennan, Braxton; and expecting a great- grandson in August; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Joann Chmiko, and four brothers: Leonard Slavik, Harvey Mavis, Leon Mavis, and Dale Mavis; and beloved niece Denise Dotson.
