SHAWL, MICHAEL A. – Of Flint, age 76, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at his residence.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 13, 1945, the son of the late Andrew and Sophia (Drost) Shawl. Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He went on to marry Elizabeth L. Waligora and they had 5 children together. Michael started the organization “Boat 4 Vets” which has been held at Lake St. Clair, Port Huron and Lake Fenton.
Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Shawl;
children, Daniel (Elizabeth) Shawl, Candace (Chip) Kilgore, Lauren (David) Romankewiz, Eric Shawl and James (Stacey) Shawl;
9 grandchildren;
2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Sophia Shawl.
