Melwing, Alex Michael, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Flushing, age 37, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home. Fr. Brian Lenz will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.

Alex was born in Flint, Michigan on May 4, 1987, the son Albert Max and Kathleen (Ferry) Melwing. He was a graduate of Flushing High School. He received his associate’s degree from Mott Community College. Alex was a DJ for many years, known as DJ Burli. He was an avid gamer with the name Burli. He was knowledgeable about the stock market and buying and trading. Alex enjoyed the water whether it was fishing, boating or swimming. He also enjoyed snow skiing and getting up before work to run. Alex was 6 feet 4 inches tall but was a gentle giant and loved giving hugs. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

Alex is survived by his mother, Kathleen M. Melwing; maternal grandparents, Madonna Aubrey and John Michael Ferry; girlfriend, Vanessa Baxter and her two sons, Ian Horton and Santiago Mireles; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert M. Melwing and paternal grandparents, Elaine and Stuart Melwing.
