Bob was born on August 5, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Glenn and Ruth (Good) Sartor. He graduated from St. John Vianney High School in 1964 and attended Ferris State University. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. He married Patricia Frania on August 22, 1970, and together they raised three children. Bob retired from Buick Motor Division after many years as an electrician. Bob had a gift for making people laugh, whether by playfully teasing his wife or his imaginative stories he made up for his grandchildren. He did his best to not play favorites in the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry and always had the TV on to watch the Red Wings or Tigers. Bob was a talented watercolor artist and Bob loved being near the water—whether at the beach with family, snorkeling in the Caribbean, canoeing with his children, or enjoying the quiet of fly fishing.
Bob will be remembered as funny, hardworking, and dependable. He had a quiet strength and was a true hero—not only for his military service, but also for the care he gave to his family and those around him.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Sartor; children, Neil (Jodi) Sartor, Nicole (Brandon) Trigger and Tricia (Ryan Haller) Sartor; grandchildren, Tristian and Mackenzie Sartor, Ava and Beckham Trigger and Ilaria, Aristotle, Ophiro and Undine Haller; siblings, Pat (Terry) Brooks, Mary (Tony) Etue, Sue (Steve) Buszek, Mark Sartor and Cecelia Sartor-Glittenberg; sister-in-law, Kathy Frania and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Ruth Sartor and brother-in-law, Thomas Frania.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, Parkinson’s Foundation or the Flushing Senior Center.
