COOPER, PHILLIP LORIN
Of Fint, MI, age 75, passed away, surrounded by family, on December 10, 2024.
Phil was offered a deal he could not refuse, for a vacation from which he will not be returning. This trip allows him to stay in the best possible accommodations, free of charge, with an ocean view, surrounded by friends and family he has missed, with unlimited, delicious food, free of any caloric guilt.
Phil was very proud to have been born in California on September 2, 1949, to James Ezra and Wava Justine Cooper. When he was young, they moved to Burton, Michigan. Phil was a devoted lifetime member of Bristol Road Church of Christ. He graduated from Bendle High School in 1967. It was while attending Michigan Christian College and David Lipscomb College, he met his future wife, Connie Ann Rae. July 30th, 1971 began a very eventful marriage, in sickness and in health. For 53 years, they met every challenge as a team, laughing all the way, and were a wonderful example of an enduring, faith-based, loving marriage.
As a former General Motors employee, Phil enjoyed cars, old and new, but his real hobby was his family. For them, he shopped, cooked, remodeled, consulted and advised. He loved music, and he LOVED to travel, especially if it took him to the water. He had a wicked sense of humor, and he loved to laugh (especially at his own jokes).
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie Cooper; daughters, Charice (Adam) Walter and Chelsea Victoria; grandsons, James Cooper McLeod, Stephen Ezra Bierman, and Willis Hayes Bartlett; as well as his later-in-life adopted daughter, Amanda Willis Bartlett. Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers-in-law, Bill Rae and Ted Rae, and sister-in-law, Kendra Rae, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his friend of over 50 years, Don Epperson.
The family would like to thank the Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital Trauma Unit for all of their support and care during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Bristol Road Church of Christ, 1315 West Bristol Road, Flint; cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 10 am until the time of service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Road Church of Christ.
