MARLETT, Joe – of Birch Run, age 56, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Jackie Rushton officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 12PM until 8PM, and on Sunday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Birch Run Fire Department or to the family for future designation.
Joe was born May 23, 1965, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Chester and Sylvia (Sobecki) Marlett. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School in 1983 and later earned his associate degree from the University of Michigan – Dearborn. Joe married Hollie Gerger on November 5, 2000, in Saginaw. He worked for Ford Motor Company for nearly 30 years, and the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home. Joe always kept busy and spent countless hours building model Lego kits. He enjoyed watching classic television shows, traveling with his family, and playing with his dogs – Iggy and Houghton. Joe was quite the jokester, he enjoyed making people laugh, was always there to offer a helping hand, and was a friend to everyone – he never met a stranger. He was a simple man, father figure to many, and made a big impact on many lives. Above all, Family was the most important to Joe, his kids were everything and he took great pride in everything they did – especially projects with Martin and watching Marjorrie bowl. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Hollie Marlett; Son, Martin Marlett; Daughter, Marjorrie Marlett (Hunter Figgins); Mother, Sylvia Marlett; Brothers, David (Debbie) Marlett, and Ken (Christy) Marlett; Sister, Kathy (Steve) Zombirt; Brother in law, Frederik (AnneSoline) Barbieux; Sisters in law: Kammie Gentile, and Larrie (Nick) Bierman; Several cousins, nieces, nephews, special co-workers at Ford and O’Guinn’s, and many other loving family members and dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by: Father, Chester Marlett; Father and mother in law, Donald and Pennie Gerger.
