Michael John Tabaszewski, Big Mike or “Tab”, of Flushing, Michigan, age 60, died Friday, October 22, 2021. A service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to his family to assist with expenses.
Mike was born in Flint, Michigan on October 10, 1961 to John and Colette (Sawatzke) Tabaszewski. Mike worked at various shops as a diesel mechanic including S&M Lumber, Star Truck Rental, Modern Concrete and most recently Young’s Environmental. For several years, Mike was the owner/operator of Roadside Truck and Trailer Repair servicing most of southern Michigan. In his spare time, you could find Mike taking rides on his Harley with his kids, building and working on the dragster before spending a day at the racetrack with family. Mike was always the first one you could call for directions to anywhere on the map, stemming from the wisdom gained during the years he spent as a semi truck driver. He could answer any question troubleshooting all engines and motors, lend any peculiar and hard to find tools, and MacGyver many Pinterest yard ornament projects. Mike enjoyed being a Papa and showing his first grand baby how to tinker on the dragster and work on things in the garage, as well as Harley rides around the yard as she sits on the gas tank. Mike has grown to be a part of so many peoples lives, and was known to many as a ‘gentle giant’ or a ‘big teddy bear’. His loud and echoing chuckle, his go-to knowledge about all things, and his generous helping hands will live on through his kids, family and the community that became his friends.
Mike is survived by his children, Justin Tabaszewski and Taylor (Greg) Schnell; granddaughter, Brinley Schnell; sister, Cindy (Michael) Badder; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Colette Tabaszewski; his grandparents and his great-grandparents.
