DIPZINSKI, MARY ANN– Of Clio, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 2, 2025, due to health complications. She was 73.
Born July 23, 1951, Mary Ann was the third child and second daughter of Robert D. and Dorothy Fortino. She grew up in Swartz Creek, attended school at St. Mary Queen of Angels Church, and was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School.
Known for her hard work and dedication, Mary Ann was a fixture at three family businesses throughout her life: Fortino’s Food Market in downtown Swartz Creek, Vic’s Grocery in Clio and Vic’s Market in Flushing. She would greet customers with the same warmth that she greeted her family and friends.
A lover of research and ancestry, Mary Ann became the Fortino family genealogist, collecting interesting facts and reconnecting with extended family in Saint Ippolito, Italy, from where her great-grandfather, Paul Fortino, had emigrated. Mary Ann also enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places on her adventures.
She was dedicated to her community and served many years on the Clio Area Schools Board of Education.
She was generous with her time and resources. She enjoyed giving gifts, especially at Christmas.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Victor Dipzinski of Clio; a daughter, Sara Dipzinski of Clare; a son and his family, Victor Dipzinski, Crystal Smith and son Kingston, all of Clio; siblings Paul Fortino of Swartz Creek, Teresa O’Brien of Swartz Creek, Robert Fortino of Canton, Ohio, David Fortino of Swartz Creek, and Jim Fortino of Swartz Creek; nieces and nephews and their families, Patrick and Demetrick Wells-O’Brien, Maria Fortino, Alicia and Chris Marting, Melissa Fortino, Angela Fortino and Ben Moulton, Stephanie Fortino, Allison Fortino and Carl McMurray, and Nicholas Fortino and Anna Winkowski; and grandnephew and grandniece, Brandon Marting and Renee Marting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Fortino, her in-laws, Victor F. and Phyllis Dipzinski, a brother, Mark Fortino, and sisters-in-law Joan Dipzinski, Judith Fortino, and Mary Fortino.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, Father Louis Ekka officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dipzinski will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
