HAGGARD, Shirley Ann (Squires) – of Flint, MI, age 74, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Chaplain Eric Maynard officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Davison Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in Shirley’s memory.
Shirley was born in Flint, MI on September 12, 1947, daughter of the late John and Emily (Squires) Lovelady. She worked in the cafeteria at General Motors, retiring after 25 years of service. Shirley devoted herself to her most important work, being a mother and a grandmother to her loved ones. She thoroughly enjoyed hosting family gatherings and holiday events; Christmas was her favorite. Shirley had compassion and an abundance of skills. She shared them with so many; from handmade cakes, crocheting blankets, rescuing abandoned animals, and even raising her grandchildren as her own. Shirley had the kind of strength that faced adversity, and trials of every kind, and still come out with a heart full of love and willing to share it with others. Shirley will be missed and mourned by many. She made the world a brighter place and left that light in the hearts of those she loved.
Shirley is survived by 3 children, Tammie Whitlow, Doug (Leslie) Haggard and Michelle (Kermit Adkins) Haggard; former husband, Jim Haggard; 6 grandchildren, Brittnie, Laccie, Myranda, Amanda, Jimmie and Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bruce, Braya, Jammie, Braven, Landon, Gracie, Benjamin, Felix and Brigz; brother, Howard Squires; many other loving family members and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily Lovelady; son, James Charles Haggard; her partner, Bob; 2 brothers, John Lovelady and Richard Lovelady.
