Marion Midgley, age 85, of Burton, Michigan passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Marion, avid genealogist, who loved canning and gardening, and camping with her family. Marion was born in Beatrice, Alabama to the late Marion and Louise (Chappell) Pearson. Marion lived in Beatrice up until the third grade when she moved to Greenville with her family. After her High School graduation she attended Auburn University where she took secretarial studies.
Marion worked at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery Alabama, and that's where she met her future husband, Maurice Elgin Midgley. They moved to Michigan where Marion lived out the remaining of her years. She remained loyal to Alabama and the Crimson Tide her entire life and never lost her Southern accent. She was a lady and a true Southern Belle. Marion was well loved and she will be dearly missed.
Marion leaves to cherish her memory daughter; Frances ( Michael) Hurston, son; Maurice Jr. ( Anita) Midgley, 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and 9 great step- grandchildren.
Marion is preceded in death by her husband Maurice E. Midgley Sr., parents Marion and Louise Midgley, sisters; Barbara (Pearson) Foster and Farish (Pearson) Simmons.
A visitation for Marion will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Open Door United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd, Burton, MI 48519. A graveside interment will occur Friday, April 28, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439.
