STEWART, Lawrence John “Larry” - Of Grand Blanc, age 86, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation.
Larry was born in Flint, Michigan on December 27, 1934, the son of the late James V. and Marie (Renox) Stewart and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. Larry was a Veteran of the United States Army. On June 10, 1961, he married Irene Byrnes at St. John Vianney in Flint. He graduated from U of M where he earned 2 Masters Degrees in Art and Design. Larry was an educator and an art teacher for 40 years and taught at Genesee Area Skill and Technology Center, which is now called the Genesee Career Institute. Larry also owned his own commercial art business. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid bowler, fisherman and a sports enthusiast, especially local teams. Above all else, Larry loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are wife, Irene;
children, Stephen J. Stewart of California, Marie T. Stewart and Spike M. Pearson of Flint;
3 grandchildren, Emilie, Michael and Jonathan Stewart;
sister, Barbara of Flushing;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew V. Stewart, brothers, Bob, James and Patrick, and sister, Virginia.
