BURKS, CHRISTEEN S. – Of Flint, age 82, died Monday, April 19, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center.
A private service will be held at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Christeen was born in Decatur, Alabama on November 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Benny and Martha (Treadway) Reeves.
On September 24, 1955 she married J.P. Burks in Alabama and he preceded her in death.
Together they had 6 kids, Martha Burks (Ronald), Barbara, Kathy, Dennis, Benny (Ethel) Burks and Rebecca (Robert) Clint;
grandchildren, Tabitha (Sean Metcalfe), Alicia Miller (Andrew), Stephanie Hoskins (Troy), Billy Burks (Kelly), Kenny Burks, Benny Burks (Kelsey), Krystal Burks, Ronald Burks, Kelsi Clint, Jessika Clint, Joey and John Broniak;
14 great-grandchildren, Baby Jane, Kacey, Kamilah, Wyatt, Emarie, Stella, Haley, Keegan, Andrew, Lexee, Lillee, Addy, Destiny and Kady;
brother, James Reeves of Ohio;
special companion, Bella-Boo, her chihuahua;
and many nieces, nephews and greats who she loved.
Christeen enjoyed Detroit Tiger Baseball, U of M Wolverines and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Most of all, she loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P.; daughter, Barbara; siblings, Ruby, Earline and Jewell.
