CAON, Joseph R. - Of Burton, age 88, died Thursday, April 13, 2017
at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Atherton United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd., Burton,
Reverend Dr. Sang “Abraham” Chun officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Atherton United Methodist Church, Ever Living Tree Fund – McLaren Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 1-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the service.
Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois March 13, 1929, the son of the late Emilio and Louise Caon and was a resident of Burton for 67 years. On July 23, 1949, he married Arlene Brock. He owned State Tile and Terrazzo Co. for 45 years, and was a founding partner of Jan’s Professional Dry Cleaners. Joseph was a member of the National Terrazzo Association for 25 years. He was also a member of Atherton United Methodist Church. Joseph loved to travel.
Surviving are wife, Arlene;
daughters, Jan (David) Barlow, Jean (Jack) Battles, and Judy (Jeffrey) Thompson;
grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Wolverton, Jarred Battles, and Julia and Jacqueline Thompson;
great-grandson, Aidric Wolverton;
and Brother, Emil (Nicki).
Joseph was preceded in death by his sister, Inez Caon.
