It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Ronald Kenneth Monette, Sr. who left us on September 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort knowing he lived life in full color — with grit, humor, and a generous spirit.
Born on October 17, 1943, in Goodrich, MI, Ron was a man who could spot opportunity and beauty wherever it appeared. He made his living as a car salesman, but more than that, he made connections. Every handshake wasn’t just a deal — it was the start of a story, and often, a friendship.
Outside of work, Ron found joy in the open air. He was at home in the quiet of the woods, where the thrill of the hunt was never just about the prize but about patience, presence, and respect for nature. At the water’s edge, he cast his lines with the same hope and faith he carried into all areas of life.
His backyard was a sanctuary — equal parts garden and birdwatcher’s paradise. He grew vegetables with the same care he gave to raising his family, and he delighted in spotting pileated woodpeckers, cardinals, hummingbirds, and every winged visitor that came to perch. To him, these small, daily miracles were proof that life’s simplest gifts are often the richest.
Above all, Ron was a devoted father, Papa, and friend. He taught us that hard work and honesty matter, that laughter heals, and that the best way to live is with curiosity, kindness, and a touch of stubborn determination.
He is survived by his children, Denise (Tom) Russell, Shaun (Ann Marie) Monette, Katrina (Ken) Campbell, Ron Monette, Jr. and Matt Monette; “Bonus daughter” Tracy (Greg) Harding;
Sister Vicki (Fred) Daniels; sisters-in-law: Amy (Jason) Burke, Teresa (Bob) Wilson;
Grandchildren, Michael (Briana) LeVoir, Josh (Chelsea) LeVoir, Kaylyn (Josh) LeVoir, Tristan (Robbie) Campbell, Kennedy Campbell, Bella Campbell, Justyne Campbell, Sophia Monette, Hayley (Rob) Rousseau, Chance Monette, Cameron Sinnett, and Conner (Sam) Grunwald;
Great-grandchildren, Shawn Rousseau, Kenleigh Rousseau, Zoey Rousseau, Brandon Rousseau, Audrey LeVoir, Jude LeVoir, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends who will carry forward his love of the outdoors, his knack for storytelling, and his belief that the best days are those spent with the people you love.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jenifer Diane Monette, his parents Victor Paul Monette and Charlotte Elizabeth (Kennedy) (Monette) Gark, granddaughter Autumn Monette, grandson Brayden Monette, and sister Loretta McCallum.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the Bavarian Comfort Care staff and Sara, RN from Gentiva Hospice, for their loving support, care and compassion during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ron by planting something green, casting a line, or simply pausing to watch the birds — just as he would have done.
Though he may have set down his rifle, fishing rod, and gardening gloves, Ron’s legacy of love and laughter continues to bloom, ripple, and soar.
