MITCHELL, Albert L. – Of Burton, age 92, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at The Pines of Burton.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Albert was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on November 23, 1921, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Aboujamra) Mitchell.
He was a World War II Army Veteran.
On July 25, 1953 he married Lola Pickett in Flint.
He was a member of Al-Waten Club.
Mr. Mitchell was owner and operator of Mitchells Supermarket in Mt. Morris for 50 years, along with other locations. He was past President of Central Wholesale Grocery. He was on the Board of Directors on the Michigan Grocers Association.
He received the Mt. Morris Hall of Honor Award.
Mr. Mitchell had many years of dedicated support to the Mt. Morris community.
Surviving are children, Joseph and wife Bente' Mitchell of Grand Blanc and their children, Russell, Marci and Kylie;
Michele and husband Larry Blair of Flushing and their children, Drew, Nick and Stephanie;
Ron and wife Wanda Mitchell of Davison and their children, Albert and Trent;
Mike Mitchell and his children, Madison and Chandler;
Norma and husband Bill Weirauch of Clio;
great-grandchildren;
twin sister, Sadie Maul of Grand Blanc;
several nieces and nephews.
