DAVIDEK, Georgina E. (Crawford) - Of Flint, age 92, died on May 25, 2022, at home surrounded by her children. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Rossell Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hurley School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Georgina was born on January 9, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of George and Agnes (Sundberg) Crawford. In 1933, her family moved to a farm in Lake City, Michigan. After graduating as Salutatorian from Lake City High School in 1948, she moved to Flint, Michigan to attend Hurley Hospital School of Nursing. She received an RN diploma in 1951, and a BA in Education from the University of Detroit. She worked as a nurse and nursing instructor at Hurley, retiring in 1990. After retirement, she worked from 1994 until 2003, in home health care in Flint and as a school nurse at GISD’s Elmer Knopf and Crouse Schools.

She married Edward Davidek on May 8, 1954, and they were married for 62 years until his death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Agnes (Sundberg) Crawford, her brother George “Bud” Crawford, brothers-in-law, William Stefan Davidek and Robert Benedict, sisters-in-law, Angelina Davidek and Marie Davidek.

She is survived by her children, Greg Davidek and wife Margaret Altemus, Annette Davidek and husband Steve Currie, Thomas and wife Eva Davidek, Timothy and wife Bridget Davidek, Edward Davidek, Jr., and Kristen Davidek-Williams, grandchildren, Madeline and Barbara Davidek, Andrew Davidek, Reed, Jacob and Grace Williams, Owen and Neil Davidek, brother-in laws, Robert Davidek, John Davidek, and Paul (Sally) Davidek and sister-in-law, Geraldine Benedict.

Georgina was a career woman, working while raising 6 children, and an environmentalist before going green was trendy. She was also a master gardener, great cook (her Swedish meatballs were a favorite at every family gathering), excellent conversationalist, willing to give advice and views without judgment, a wonderful hostess, always welcoming people for dinner or the weekend, open to new experiences, lover of reading, travel and adventures. She loved spending time with her family, especially her eight beloved grandchildren.
