O’CONNOR, Richard D. – of Clio, age 85, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A gravesite inurnment will be held in West Vienna Cemetery at a later date.
Richard was born August 11, 1936, in Worchester, Massachusetts, to the late John and Irene (Dennis) O’Connor. He married Betty Lou Hall on December 31, 1956, she preceded him in death September 3, 1993. Richard later married Tanya Pomroy on October 5, 1995. Mr. O’Connor is a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran. He was a truck driver for Commercial Carriers for 17 years while consecutively serving as a police officer with the Montrose Police Department for several years. Richard enjoyed camping, and hunting. He was an outstanding man that was always there to help anyone. Above all, Richard loved spending quality time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife, Tanya O’Connor; Sons: David O’Connor, and Dennis (Sandy) O’Connor; Grandchildren: Misty O’Connor (Nathan Mead), Heather (Josh) Giebel, Kiley (Mark) Stuetzel, Michael O’Connor, and Joshua O’Connor; Great grandchildren: Lorenne Gilbert, Seth Miller, and Lucas Stuetzel; Sister, Mary (Joseph) Wallack; Special great nieces: Skylar Erber, Leah Erber, and Arianna Erber; Aunt, Sue (Greg) Carslay; Brothers and sisters in law: A.J. (Kamary) Pomroy, Shelly (Rick) Huber, and Tammy (Alan) Renico; Special friends: Sandy Train, Teresa and Mark Stuetzel; Many other loving family members and dear friends. Richard was also preceded in death by: Daughter, Debra Rhodes; Son, Richard O’Connor; Brother, John O’Connor; Brother in law, Chuck Pomroy.
