Age: 77
Community: Burton, MI

LLOYD, Gary Lynn, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 10, 2021. He was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on May 19th, 1943 to Lincoln and Sibyl Lloyd. Gary is preceded in his death by his parents, Lincoln and Sibyl Lloyd as well as his second daughter, Arianna.
He was a loving father to Desireé, Heather, Gary (Paige), Jeremy (Lindsay), Josh (Neda) and a father figure to many others. A proud Papa of Arianna, Christian, Lincoln, Dottie, Jaxson, Hudson, Beckham, and Shyahn. A brother to Marla, Brett, Lanette, Stacey and an uncle to many more.
Gary has always had a huge heart and love for others. Fondest memories of him include how welcoming and warm hearted he was. He was also someone who was able to see the beauty in people that they may not have seen themselves. He became a father figure to many others because of this gift. His care and love that he poured into other people made them believe in and love themselves as much as he did.
Gary grew up in Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1961.
At age 18 Gary joined the Navy and proudly served his country as a Sonar Technician for over 4 years. He was stationed on the USS Turner Joy. After leaving the Navy, he met the love of his life. Gary and Arleen have been married for nearly 50 years and have built quite an incredible life together. His wife, children, and grandchildren knew him as a kind, wise and loving man who was always there for them.
Gary was a dedicated, loyal worker and spent 44 years working at the GM plant in Pontiac, Michigan as an electrician and trainer. During this time, he decided to continue his education by attending the University of Michigan Flint and earning a bachelor’s degree in communications.
Throughout his life, Gary has always been a very creative artist with an imaginative eye. He was able to simply look at a block of wood or a blank canvas and could just see what he wanted to create. He had a knack for being able to see things that others could not. He spent much of his down time at work whittling away at a block of wood and creating the most captivating artwork.
Gary was also a very talented musician with the ability to play a variety of instruments. His love for music would always pour out of him every time he was playing and those listening could feel it. Gary combined his love for the Lord and music by joining and eventually leading the praise team for about 20 years. His passion and love for God led him and his wife to many different missions where they served others. God used Gary and Arleen’s combined talents throughout their lives to bring others closer to Jesus. If Arleen could think it up Gary could build and create it. His strong faith has shaped him into who he was. Throughout his life God never let go of him up until the very end.
Gary will be greatly missed by each and every one of his family members as well as all of his friends.
