Beloved Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather William “Bill” Brooks love of life did not come to an end with his death. Bill passed away on April 19, 2022, at the age of 80 after a bitter battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM, Monday, April 25, 2022 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Family will receive visitors from 11AM until time of service at 1PM, burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park.
Bill’s humble beginning was in the holler of Cabin Creek, West Virginia, surrounded by Coal Mines on every side. Bill was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as an Artilleryman in Vietnam. Shortly after returning home, Bill headed North to Flint, Michigan looking for a job. While Bill was an outstanding shortstop on the softball field, he went to work for General Motors – Delphi where he worked for 31 years at the Historic Plant 4, Home-of-the-Sit-Downers.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill. He loved a quiet evening with friends and family. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities puttering around the house and yard. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marcia: two grandsons, Ryan and Michael. Bill is survived by his wife, Joy; son, Royce (Debbie) Autry; daughter, Cathy (JB) Morse; daughter, Vicky (Bob) DeVore; daughter, Debi (Bill) Travis; 22 Grandchildren; 47 Great-Grandchildren; 35 Great-Great Grandchildren; sister, Loretta, sister, Geraldine; brother, Daniel; sister, Charlotte; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
