Mildred "Millie" Elaine (Young) Kilburn
Age 101 of Owosso passed away Friday, January 10, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Rev. Deb Grazier officiating. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
Mildred was born March 24, 1923 in Thompsonville, the daughter of Carl and Hattie (Suffel) Young.
She graduated from Utley & Flint Central High School. After graduation Mildred attended Baker Business School of Flint.
Mildred was a member of Scrapbaggers & Quilt Guild. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bowling, and traveling. She won First place pieced at Keepers of Quilting Traditions and 11th Annual Durand Quilt Show in 2010. it took her over 2 years to complete this quilt.
She married LeRoy Kilburn in New Haven Township at Parsonage Evangelical Church on June 20, 1942. He later predeceased her on September 18, 2013.
Mildred was a secretary for John's Sports & Marine and did sewing for Mitchell Bentley. She was an accomplished seamstress & quilter. She also was the secretary/bookkeeper for the family business Kilburn's Garage.
Mildred is survived by her sons, William Bruce (Paula) Kilburn of Owosso and Richard Carl Kilburn (Charlene Skoke) of Key West, Florida and Owosso, Michigan; grandchildren, LeRoy (Stacy) Kilburn, Micol Cecchi (Exchange Student), and Carla Kilburn; great-grandchildren, Brenden Kilburn, Michael Kilburn, Alek Nino, Rellen Nino, Daisy Konplen; along with several other loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy Kilburn, son, Gregory (infancy), parents, Carl and Hattie Young, brothers, Marvin McVicker and Bert Young, sister, Joyce Daoust, and granddaughter, Julie Kilburn of Grand Blanc.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Hospice and The Meadows of Owosso.
