THOMPSON, Stephen Gilbert of Flint, age 57, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries of Flint, Michigan.
Stephen was born in Flint, Michigan on September 9, 1965, the son of James and Rosemary (Fogas) Thompson. Steve was a lifelong resident of Genesee County and graduated from Carman Senior High School, Class of 1982. Everyone loved Steve. He enjoyed downtown Flint, gardening; as he had the natural gift of having a green thumb. Steve was always thinking of others and prepared for holidays long in advance to celebrate with family and friends. He included everyone he was close to. He had an exceptional memory to recall family stories from decades past. Steve was a non-judgemental, easy-going person and truly accepting of all people. Steve will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A thoughtful thank you to McLaren Hospice, and the doctors and nurses, Genesee County Community Mental Health and the Adult Foster Care Services through whom Steve was shown compassion and care his entire adult life.
A special remembrance to Ammeleo and L.T., notable home managers, who always treated Steve with dignity, thoughtfulness and respect.
Stephen is survived by his father, James G. Thompson; sister, Lisa A. (Randy L. Smith) King; brother, Dr. Frederick J. (Kathryn) Thompson; and nieces and nephews, Nicholas J. King of Las Vegas, NV, Maxwell P. (Sarah) Thompson of Flushing, Nathan P. King of Flushing, Frances M. Thompson of Plymouth, MI, Harrison A. Thompson of Flint. Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary (Fogas) Thompson.
