Henderson, Bernard A. “Ben”- Of Rowlett Texas, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023 surrounded by his family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, with Chaplain David Owen officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Friday November 10th at the Swartz Funeral home and also on Saturday November 11th from 11:00am until the time of service.
Ben was born in Flint, Michigan on February 21, 1932 the son of the late Ernest and Edna (Williamson) Henderson. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Ben and Shirley Fletcher were married on August 9th 1954. They celebrated their 69th anniversary this past summer.
Ben became a Registered Professional Land Surveyor at Flint Surveying. He, along with his 2 partners Lee Bates and Hal Elrich, opened their own business in Lapeer Michigan. Ben later went on to Become an RPLS in Texas and work with his 3 Sons in their company BGT until his passing. Ben was a RPLS for 64 years.
Ben enjoyed photography, square dancing, down hill skiing, camping and canoeing. He was a well rounded builder. Later in life, he loved to read westerns.
Surviving are his wife Shirley Henderson, 4 children Susan (Tedd) McDowell, David ( Debbie) Henderson, Jeffrey (Leesa) Henderson and Steven (Shaheen) Henderson, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Edna Henderson and 8 of his siblings.
