WHITMAN, Clare – of Davison, age 94, passed away August 2, 2021 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 12 noon Monday, August 9, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery with Military Honors; Pastor John Vannest officiating. Visitation will be 11-2pm and 4-8 pm Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Clare’s memory.
Clare was born in Swartz Creek, MI on July 28, 1927, son of the late William and Genivieve (Remington) Whitman. He married Vivian Nickerson on April 12, 1947, and she preceded him in death. Clare then married Anita Nickerson in 1977, and she also preceded him in death. He was a life-time member of the Davison VFW Post #4087. Clare loved to ride his Harleys, traveling and bowling. He enjoyed all the parties with family and friends. Clare worked at GM, retiring in 1983, also known as “HOT ROD”.
Clare is survived by son, Jon (Joan) Whitman, daughters-in-law, Donna Whitman and Julie Whitman, stepchildren, Barbara (David) Jackett, Charlene (Charles) Martin, Allen (Lisa) Nickerson, Mark Nickerson, Nita Munger and Eric Nickerson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Dennis, Brian, Frederick (Monica), and Craig Whitman, and Bruce Nickerson.
