PARKER, Shirley Ann (Rauh) – of Flint, MI, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 5191 Richfield Road, Flint, in the Community Room on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 12- 4 PM.
Shirley was born in Pontiac, MI on March 12, 1936. She was the daughter of Ervin Rauh and Reva Harris. She married Budd (Stewart) Parker on November 9, 1992. She and Budd enjoyed their life together travelling across the United States from Maine to California and visiting family in Colorado. They took many trips with a group of dear friends to New Orleans, Las Vegas, Jamaica, and the Caribbean.
Shirley spent her career in manufacturing, becoming the first woman supervisor at Mac Valves in Wixom, Michigan. She retired from Huron Valley Hospital where she worked for 10 years. Shirley was a trailblazer for women.
Shirley loved reading, travelling, keeping her home, planting flowers, bird watching, caring for her grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with her neighbors. Shirley was an enthusiastic bubble blower! She loved her life and cherished the people in it.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Julie Elliott, and Nanci Simmons; stepdaughters, JoAnn Howart, Jeanne (Hicham) Taiymi, Tricia (Tracy) Robertson, Julie Parker, Karen Jones, and Wanda Garrett; stepson, Mitch Garrett; daughter-in-law Marie (Gary) Garrett, and many other family and friends.
Shirley and Budd enjoyed 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Shirley found great joy in her relationships with her granddaughters, Jenna (Grant) Morrison and Hannah Simmons; grandsons, Robert (Jen) Elliott, Joshua (Erica Aymer) Howart, Wyatt Simmons and Morgan Simmons.
Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband, Budd (Stewart) Parker; her parents; her brother, Robert Rauh; stepsons, Gary Garrett, and Stewart Parker; son-in-law, David Howart Sr.; grandson, Matthew Garrett; and her beloved stepfather, Raymond Harris.
