Gloria was born May 9, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Heinrich and Marie Heidenreich. She was the youngest child in a large first-generation German American family. All five of her brothers served in each branch of the military during WWII, something she was deeply proud of, as well as that they all came home safely. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1947, where she met Ronald Lammy. They were married in 1950 and had three children, Kristine (Deceased), Deborah, and Ronald II. Gloria moved to Lancaster, PA in 1971 with her partner Chuck Milhoan, where she opened her Merle Norman Cosmetics store. Together, they ran the business until 1992 when she returned to Michigan to be closer to her family. Gloria enjoyed traveling and attending conventions for the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia with her companion Emmett. She was an avid reader, fond of researching her ancestry and was even able to travel to Germany to connect with distant relatives. Gloria especially loved retelling stories of her large family and their life growing up. Gloria was happiest when her family was together for holidays, birthdays, reunions, and gatherings. She was an expert cookie baker, notably her legendary chocolate chip cookies, with the 5 times sifted flour. Her laughter, hugs, and warmth will be missed dearly. Gloria was a firm believer in God and her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace with her Creator.
She is survived by her beloved children Deborah and Bruce Campbell and Ronald and Marti Lammy II; grandchildren, Robert Ladd, Ronald and Ivy McTaggart, Krista McTaggart, Stephanie and Eric Dahl, Ronald and Carissa Lammy III, Lauren and Ron Bisti, Kathleen and Nicholas Gruzwalski; and twelve great-grandchildren; Hannah, Holly, Zachary, Aurora, Landon, Evangelina, Evan, Bennett, Audrey, Shane, Amelia, and Zoey. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Kristine Canadyan; granddaughter Megan Lammy; great-grandson, Hunter; five brothers Hank, Carl, Walter, Fred, and Richard; four sisters Lydia, Amelia, Emma, and Marie; the father of her children Ronald Lammy; her partner Chuck Milhoan; and her longtime companion Emmett Glass.
Gloria will be entombed at New Calvary Cemetery on Monday, November 30, 2020 in a private ceremony.
Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
