Gorton, Joe M – Age 63, of Burton MI, passed away at his residence surrounded by his closest loved ones.
Joe was born on August 30, 1960 in Flint, MI. Joe went to Carman Schools and would later meet the love of his life, Trina Stephens. They married November 13th, 1982 and had two children, Joseph and Sara.
Joe was retired and had a lifelong passion for drag racing. He could often be found wrenching on his Malibu in his garage. He and his silver Malibu were legendary in the Flint racing scene.
Surviving are his wife, Trina. Son, Joseph and wife Kimberly of Lapeer; Daughter, Sara and husband Joshua Clements of Flushing; Grandchildren, Cameron, Kaedin, Konnor, Aubrey, Izabella, and Presley; Sisters, Denice and husband Tom Katzur of Flint, and Candie Albro of Otisville; Brother, Rick Gorton of Flint. And many nieces and nephews.
Joe always loved to be surrounded by close family and friends. His love for his grandchildren and participation in their lives was unmatched as he attended every event he could.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will take place 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday December 21, 2023 at the funeral home.
