Bob attended Flint Northern High School, where he was a member of the 1950 undefeated Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame Football Team and Varsity Baseball standout.
Following high school, Bob was a well-known amateur baseball player in the Flint Area. He was an outstanding catcher and powerful hitter in the City Baseball League playing most of his time with Skaff Furniture.
Bob was a star athlete in both football and baseball but his love was hockey which he played and coached for decades.
A highlight of Bob’s athletic career was playing organized hockey with his adult sons Tony and Mark for over a decade.
A well respected coach, Bob was instrumental in coaching several successful Youth Hockey teams. His passion for hockey was an inspiration to his players. Coaching and developing young players brought Bob great joy.
An avid outdoor sportsman, Bob loved to hunt, fish and enjoy the great outdoors with his family.
Whether hunting or picnicking with his longtime companion, Joan, or with his family, Bob was happiest enjoying the beauty of nature.
