McDANIEL, Elizabeth “Betty” K. Horvath (Szikszay) – of Davison, MI, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 12-1 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, in Betty’s memory.
Betty was born in Flint, MI on April 7, 1920, daughter of the late George and Mary (Balog) Szikszay. She married Steven Horvath on October 10, 1942 and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1997. Betty then married Glenn McDaniel on November 18, 2000 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2021. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Betty was a devout Christian, an excellent cook, immaculate housekeeper, proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in her church and participated in many church activities. Betty also loved sewing and gardening.
Betty is survived by 2 daughters, Diane (John) Horvath of Fenton, MI and Cindy (Herman) Burton of Lennon, MI; grandson, Grant (Kayla) Simpson of Lennon, MI; 3 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Grant II and Kaydence; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Szikszay; 2 husbands, Steven Horvath and Glenn McDaniel; 5 siblings, Velma, George, Charles, Mary and William.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Kindred Hospice, especially Melissa and Nicole, and to all of Betty’s caregivers for their professional and compassionate care of Betty.
