BOWER, Phyllis Shreve - age 87, passed away Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church 8070 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Reverend Glenn G. Grant officiating. Phyllis was born in 1927 in Flushing, Michigan to Veryl and Genevieve Taylor. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1945. Phyllis was an active member at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church in Grand Blanc where she had many friends. She was a lifetime member at Atlas Valley Country Club in Grand Blanc, where she golfed regularly into her late eighties. Her golfing prowess earned her the nickname “Fairway Phyllis” because of her ability to hit the golf ball straight down the middle. Phyllis was always learning new things and took classes at Mott Community College, where after ten years she graduated with honors with an Associate’s Degree in general studies in 2007 at the age of 80. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Carey Felt from Portage, MI; son, Jon (Kathleen) Shreve from Howell, MI; granddaughters, Shannon Felt, Allison Felt, Emma Shreve; grandson, Jacob Shreve; step-daughter, Laurie Powell; and step-son, Jerry Bower, and their children. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Leon Shreve; second husband, Harry Bower; and younger brother, Jerry Taylor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.hillfh.com.
