The family of Oreat Ross, Flint, Michigan announces the passing of our; Mom, Wife, Auntie Orie, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend to many. Oreat Ross was born March 19, 1928, in Enderlin, ND and was a first generation American from Olga and Martin Forbord of Norwegian descent.
Orie was wife to George Ross, for 53 years, who passed on April 19, 2007. Orie and George are parents to Doug Ross, Nancy McGarey, Marcia Durish, and Martha Ross. Orie enjoyed 7 Grandchildren and many loving Great Grandchildren.
Orie was a very loving mother who took pride in her homemaking, while George was at Buick Motor Division for 40+ years. Orie had short careers at the “Five and Dime” on Corunna Road and Michigan Bell, as a young adult. Orie and George were very involved at First Presbyterian Church, Flint. They were long term members of the Bishop Class and ensured their children participated in church activities also.
Orie was also proud of her Friday AM job at the church preparing Sunday bulletins. Some of the church staff still tell stories of Orie and her spirit.
Orie and George resided on Ferndale Place for over 50 years in which they developed lifelong relationships with multi-generational neighbors.
Orie also participated in friendship groups and organizations within the Flint area. The “Sewing Club” and the Grand Blanc PEO chapter were favorites of hers.
Mom, you can finally share dessert with your Sweetie again. We love you and thanks for all you did for us and who you were.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11am at First Presbyterian Church - 746 Saginaw St, Flint, MI 48502. Reverend Paul Ytterock will be officiating the service for Oreat.
