HORN, Eldon C. - Of Flint, age 88, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Homewood Village.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at West Court Street Church of God, 2920 West Court Street in Flint,
Reverend Paul W. Kirkpatrick officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring, may make contributions to West Court Street Church of God.
Visitation 11am-3pm and 5-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI. Mr. Horn will be at the church 10am Tuesday for viewing until the time of the service.
Eldon was born in Flint on March 13, 1925 and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning a Purple Heart. He was a member and usher of West Court Street Church of God. Mr. Horn was employed by General Motors, V-8 Engine Plant for 35 years, retiring in 1990 and was a member of UAW Local #659. He was also a car salesman for various dealerships throughout his lifetime.
Surviving are 2 sons, Donald and wife Judy Horn and Kenneth Horn;
5 grandchildren, Monica (George) Black, Christina (Scott) Maison,
Elizabeth (Scott) Walker and Angela (Justin) Phelps, and Kimberly (Bradley) Barta;
great-grandchildren, Josiah, Brendan, Lauren, Nina and Evan;
brother, Gerald (Sandy) Horn;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann, on June 24, 2003; his parents, Howard L. and Gail (Clingenpeel) Horn and brother, Lyle Horn, sisters, Velma Bittner and Wanda Finley.
The Horn family would like to extend a special thank you to both the staffs at Homewood Village and Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and to the friends at West Court Street Church of God for all their support with visits, cards and prayers.
