CHHEDA, Kathy Gail – of Flint, age 66, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Internment will immediately follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, April 7, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM on Thursday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association Michigan Chapter (https://bit.ly/3ud1D2R), in Kathy’s memory.
Kathy was born in Flint, MI on April 29, 1955, daughter of Kenneth and Marilyn (Horton) Jones. She was a devoted nurse for 42 years and loved her time as a visiting nurse where she touched the lives of many in the Flint community. She would go the extra mile to make sure they had what they needed and would make time to chauffer them to the grocery store or listened to their personal stories. Her heart was in her work. Away from work, her creative juices were always flowing. She enjoyed crafting and making homemade gifts. While growing up, she loved waterskiing on Lake Holloway with her siblings. As a skilled baker, she was known for her derby pie, cherry pie and monkey bread. During her time raising five kids, she displayed wonderful patience, and as a grandmother of seven angels she loved the lively sounds they made while flying around the house.
Kathy is survived by her children, Larissa (Ken) Wirkner, Lindsey (Mark) Elder, Justin Chheda and Landon Kelly; grandchildren, Shane, James, Owen, Lila, Emma, Ellis and Nora; siblings, Keith Jones, Karen Spinney, Kelly (Rick) Vega, Kerry (Kelly) Jones and Kris (Melissa) Jones; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter, Kavita.
