William (Bill) John Lewis, age 77, passed away in Fort Myers, Florida on April 28th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Flint, Michigan to Howard and Marie (Nelson) Lewis on November 18th, 1944. He grew up and attended school in the Beecher district before moving to Birch Run. Bill married Deborah Sanborn on June 2nd, 1984, spending 38 happy years together.
Bill worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad/Canadian National Railway for over 42 years before retiring with Deb to Bonita Springs, FL in the winters and Secord Lake in the summers. The two homes provided him with plenty of opportunities to use his many do-it-yourself talents. His friends referred to him as “Billy the Brain” and often asked for his help with their various home projects.
Bill loved his time with family and friends, especially if he could be with them out on the water. Boating was his favorite pastime; he spent hours captaining the pontoon on his favorite Michigan lakes, Florida’s intercoastal waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. Bill had many friends, he loved to entertain, he loved to laugh, and he always welcomed everyone aboard.
Bill will be greatly missed by his wife, Deb, children, Kelley (Ed) Colbert, Kevin (Michelle Stevenson) Lewis, grandchildren, Sarah and Leah Lewis, Emma and Ella Colbert, and brother Jack (Tonda) Lewis. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Ken, and sister Shirley.
A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held on Friday, June 24th at 1:00pm at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 5375 W Mount Morris Rd, Mount Morris, MI |
