GEMBEL, Simon “Larry” – of Davison, MI, age 73, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at his residence. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 5 PM Friday, September 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Deacon Michael Dear officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-5 PM Friday, September 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to K9’s for Warriors, www.k9sforwarriors.org, in Larry’s memory.
Larry was born in Flint, MI on February 9, 1949, son of the late John and Anna (Chaya) Gembel. He was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1967. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969-1975. He retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of service. Larry enjoyed bowling, gardening, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Gembel; 2 children, Christopher (Gina) Gembel and Jennifer Ann Gembel; granddaughter, Maria Gembel; brother, Ken (Jean) Gembel; 2 brothers-in-law, Guy Courts and Jim (Jean Thompson) Miller; 4 nephews, Kevin (Kari) Gembel, Ken (Alisha) Gembel Jr., Matt (Jean Ann) Miller and Jack Miller; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Gembel; parents-in-law, Max and Cheryl Miller and 2 sisters-in-law, Debra Courts and Kelly Miller.
