Alto Marie Rumpel, age 85, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, with her family by her side.
Alto, who preferred to go by her middle name of Marie, was born on November 17, 1936, in St. Pauls, North Carolina to the late John and Mary (Edge) Rozier. Marie always went to great lengths to help anyone in need. Everyone she knew or met was touched by her kindness. This was Marie's mission in life, and why she was placed on this Earth. She had a way of making people laugh with her silly sense of humor, and would always say the most unexpected things in her offbeat, quirky manner. Marie had a strong will and although she was the definition of kindness, she had no trouble speaking up for herself and those she loved.
Marie was a lady who loved God, and she cherished her Bible and had a saying that "God is good, all the time." She adored being sung to and having Scriptures read to her. Marie collected angels and liked to listen to Gospel music. She had many hobbies that she enjoyed including watching the birds and wildlife outsider her window, doing crossword puzzles and shopping. Some of Marie's other favorites included walking, grilled cheese and tomato soup, candy and especially gum, which she enjoyed weekly.
If someone was to describe Marie, they would say she was caring, sweet and selfless. She was a funny lady, who could be quirky and silly at times, and always made others laugh. Lastly, Marie was a lady who was devoted to her family, and to God. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be dearly missed by her precious family, and all who had the privilege to know her.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Loretta (Todd) West; grandson Zachariah (Ellynn) Bolin; great grandson James Bolin; brother Raymond Rozier; special friend, Leslie Heimstadt; and many nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Rozier; and brothers, John, Curtis, Bill, Wilbur and Aubrey.
The family of Marie would like to give special thanks to the staff at Wellbridge and Compassus Hospice. The love and care she received was amazing, and the list is too long to individually name, but thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
