HAYES, Shirley Joyce - Age 85, of Flushing, went to heaven peacefully on Sunday January 23, 2022. There will be visitation Saturday, January 29, 2022 11AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00PM at Living Word Church of God, 6325 Calkins Road, Flint, Pastor Tim McKenzie officiating. A private family burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan will be held at a later date.

Shirley was born February 10, 1936, in Shelby Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Eleanor (Phillips) Wright. She married Russell Hayes
in Shelby on June 30, 1962. Shirley was a graduate of Shelby High School in 1952 then earned her BS Degree in Elementary Education at Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University) in 1956. She taught 4th grade in Granville, Owosso, and Beecher
school districts. Later becoming a homemaker raising her children. Shirley was a prayer warrior devoted follower of Christ,
singing in church choirs as well as a member of New Community Choral for many years. Shirley was involved in many Bible studies
over the years, including Bible Study Fellowship. She kept her wittiness playing the piano, crossword puzzles,
word searches, she enjoyed baking, crafts and sewing. Her grandkids and great grandkids brought great joy to her life. Shirley and Russ enjoyed traveling abroad in early retirement. At 79, it was put on her heart to be a part of a mission trip to
Guatemala, spending time with impoverished children, it fulfilled a life achievement for her. Shirley is survived by husband of 59 years, Russ, daughter Shari (Ken) Farmer; son, Rick; her grandchildren: Brendan Farmer, Megan Hayes, Krystyn Hayes, Corporal Emmadel (Corporal Ridgley)
McKelvey, Justin Hayes and her Great grandchildren: Tristan Hayes and Haisley Paulus along with several nieces and
nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by brothers Robert Wright, Richard Wright and Larry Wright, sister Carolyn Starrett, parents
