HOWELL, Ernest Noland “Ernie” - Of Flint, age 75, died peacefully at home surrounded by his children and caregiver Monday, March 1, 2021.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mott Community College Basketball Team.
Visitation Noon-3pm Friday, March 5, 2021 at the funeral home.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Ernie was born in Flint, Michigan on May 1, 1945, the son of the late Howard and Dorothy (Onweller) Howell. He was a proud scholar athlete from Beecher High School. Ernie loved to spend his free time watching high school sports and the Mott Bears Basketball Team. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of service. Ernie was a proud member of Alex Hagon #18 Race Team. He had a heart of gold. Ernie would help any friend or even a stranger anytime, especially with mechanical projects. He proudly achieved 31 years of sobriety. He lived to put a smile on someone’s face each day, especially for birthdays. Ernie loved sitting on his swing at Wixom Lake, tinkering in his pole barn and taking cruises in his Corvette and spent hours mowing his and everyone else’s lawns. He also enjoyed Sunday morning breakfasts with family and friends.
Surviving are son, Scott and wife Kerri Howell of East Amherst, NY;
daughter, Tammi Howell of Flint;
grandchildren, Trevor and Cassidi Howell; and special friend, Nancy Taylor.
A special thank you to the Hospice Team, Cupcake and caregiver Baby and her family.
He was preceded in death bu his loving step-father, David Stuart.
