CHURCH, JoAnn Arlene (Unrath) – of Flint, MI, age 74, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held 5 PM Monday, January 22, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Dennis Church officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 2-7 PM Sunday, January 21, 2018 and 4-5 PM Monday, January 22, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McLaren Flint Foundation, in JoAnn’s memory.
JoAnn was born in Flint, MI on February 4, 1943, daughter of the late Franklin and Eulalee “Billie” (Lawrason) Unrath. She married David Church on May 25, 1963. JoAnn loved bowling and was the League Secretary of the Blue Jay Flyers bowling league at Richfield Bowl for over 30 years. David and JoAnn enjoyed visiting casinos when they traveled on their yearly 1000 mile color tour around Michigan. JoAnn especially enjoyed spending quality time with all of the family. She also loved spending time at their residence in Harrison, MI.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of 54 years, David; 2 daughters, Dawnette (Scott) Allen and DeAnna (Tony) Akins; 4 grandchildren, Chari (Bryan) Grant, Alesha Akins, Vanessa Allen and Katelyn Akins; 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Aerabella Grant; 2 brothers, Robert (Alice) Unrath and Jim Unrath; very special friend, Mert Kirbyson; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Onstott.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Karmanos Cancer Center of McLaren Flint and University of Michigan Hospital for their professional and compassionate care of JoAnn.
