McCARTHY, Rita Fay - Age 70, of Linden, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St, Linden (A live stream of the service will be available on Rita's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Elder Jody Porter officiating. Rita was born September 16, 1952 in Flint, the daughter of Ralph Fayette and Thressa Lula (Surbrook) Luce. She was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Morris High School and she received a Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University. She married Dennis Wayne McCarthy December 11, 1976 in Clio. Rita had resided in Linden since 1976 coming from Mt. Morris. She was employed by Holly Academy, where she taught physical education, art and music. She was an active member of Community of Christ Church in Flint, where she was a priest, youth leader, campfire director and pianist. Rita was an artist and musician, soccer coach and was a Girl Scout Leader and an active volunteer.
Surviving are: her husband, Dennis; daughters, Amy (Chris) Owen of Apex, NC and Briana McCarthy of Linden; grandsons, Blake and Devan Owen; brother, Robin (Pam) Luce of Central Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeremy McCarthy; and sister, Shirley Linton. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
